RF550VPN/RF560VPN WAN Filtering

This example explains how to setup WAN filtering on the RF550VPN/RF560VPN to control access from

remote sites to the LAN. The WAN Filter Settings function allows the network administrator to define

whether remote/outside users have the permission to access the local network. The

RF550VPN/RF560VPN requires configuration as a Virtual Server to use WAN filtering. This example will

use the same configuration as example one.

1. To access this screen, click the Filter Settings button on the left side of the Advanced Settings

screen. Then click on WAN Filter Settings button on the left side of the screen. The WAN Filter

Settings screen displays.

2. Check the WAN Side Filter Enabled box to activate the filter and allow a list of users and

permissions to be created.

3. Select the Default WAN Side Filter: Block or Pass. For this example, set this to Block. This

means the WAN as a whole (i.e. The Internet) will not have access to the LAN side of the

RF550VPN/RF560VPN.

4. Select the client filter setting: Block or Pass. For this example, set this to Pass. This means that the

remote clients specified below in the IP Address Range will have access to the LAN side of the

RF550VPN/RF560VPN, but only when using the Destination Port Range specified.
