Solution:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,disableit,andchangethedisplayoutputlocation.If
aDVDmovieoravideoclipisplaying,stoptheplayback,closetheprogram,andthenchangethe
displayoutputlocation.
•Problem:Thescreenpositionontheexternalmonitorisincorrectwhenthatmonitorissetforahigh
resolution.
Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolutionsuchas1600x1200,theimageisshiftedtoleftor
rightonthescreen.Tocorrectthis,rstmakesurethatyourexternalmonitorsupportsthedisplaymode
(theresolutionandtherefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthemonitor
supports.Ifitdoessupportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthemonitoritself
andadjustthesettingsthere.Usuallytheexternalmonitorhasbuttonsforaccesstothesetupmenu.For
moreinformation,seethedocumentationthatcomeswiththemonitor.
Audioproblems
•Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplaycorrectly.
Solution:Makesurethattheaudiodeviceisconguredcorrectly.
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.Double-clickSound,videoandgamecontrollers.
5.MakesurethattheRealtekHDAudiodriverisenabledandconguredcorrectly:
•Problem:Sounddoesnotcomefromaheadphoneoraspeaker,oryourcomputercannotrecordsounds.
Solution:Toswitchfromonedevicetoanother(forexample,fromaspeakertoaheadphone,orfroman
externalmicrophonetoamicrophone),dothefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound.
2.ClicktheRealtekHDManagericon.
3.MakesurethatyouareinMULTI-STREAMmodeintheDeviceadvancedsettingswindow.
4.IntheVolumeMixerwindow,selectthedeviceyouwant-forexample,speakers.
5.Playanysoundviaamusicprogram(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).Makesurethatsound
comesfromspeakersnow.
6.Then,ifyouwouldliketoswitchtoaheadphone,closethemusicprogram.
7.GototheVolumeMixerwindow.Thenselectanotherdevice,whichisnowtheheadphone.
8.Playanysoundviathemusicprogram.Makesurethatsoundcomesfromaheadphoneattached
directlytothesystem.

Note:IntheVolumeMixerwindowofRealtekHDManager,acheckmarkbytheentryforadevice,

Solution:MakesurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
