Setting Up the RF825 to Work with a PPTP Client

Step 3 – VPN > PPTP Setup

1. Go to the VPN > PPTP screen.

PPTP Status

2. In the section labeled PPTP Settings, check the PPTP Status check box.

3. From the Select Remote Address drop down list box, select PPTP-Pool.

Note: The Range shows you how many PPTP clients are supported (determined by

the Remote Start Address and the Remote End Address entered).

4. Click the Save button.

User Authentication

5. Select the desired user Authentication Type and click the Save button:

Local – Authentication type used when local users have individual access rights.

RADIUS – Authentication type used when access rights comes from a central server for

user authentication.

6. Local Authentication Input

User Name – Enter the user’s name in lowercase.

Password – Enter the user’s password (in lowercase).

Confirm Password – Retype the password to confirm it.

Static IP Address – Enter the specific Static IP Address from the range so that the

server will issue it to the client when it is connected.

Allowed Users – The names of the users entered above display in this text box. If you

wish to delete a name, click the Delete button.

RADIUS Authentication Input

Prerequisite Step – In order to select RADIUS as the authentication type, you must set

up a PPTP network by going to the Network & Services > Network Configuration

screen and enter a Network Name, IP Address and Subnet Mask as in this example:
